End of the Year Mixer 5/02/08 6 pm @ Terrace

Our End of the Year/End of Spring/Going Away Send off for those who are graduating and leaving us/ Mixer will be held this friday...details below:

Where: Memorial Union Terrace (if inclement weather or too cold, we will be in the Rathskellar)
When: 2 May 2008
6:00pm to 8:00pm
Why: Because AAAGS mixers are fun and you can meet other grad students you havent seen or never met.

Come on out and join us for a drink! Look out for signs!!!

For those interested, a group of us will be going to InAsia, APAC's cultural show at 8pm at the Wisconsin Union Theatre, Mem Union

Event: Filipino American Student Organization, FASO

(this is just friendly advertisement, not an AAAGS event per se)

In honor of MCSC & AASU's Asian American Awareness Month, The Filipino American Student Organization is proud to present a 3-part workshop event to share what makes The Philippines unique among other Southeast Asian nations, demonstrating its rich cultural history and the variety of influences, both regional and colonial, that have made it the nation that it is today.

The workshops will take place on Saturday April 12th in Tripp Commons, Memorial Union

FASO Introduction

11:00-11:30am - APELLIDO Workshop
Tracing Filipino last names to ancestral roots
- Led by Maureen Justiniano, Filipino Language Instructor

11:30pm-12:20pm - Cross-Culture: The Mexican Influence in Filipino food, language and currency.
- Led by Maureen Justiniano, Filipino Language Instructor

Defend, Disarm, and Dare your friends! Sticks will be provided.

(If weather permits, we will even fight outside!)

2:00pm-2:45pm - Revolution & Nationalism - Paul Bunyan Room
A stimulating look into the Filipino-American War & its connections to today
- Led by Dr. Michael Cullinane, Associate Director for Southeast Asian Studies
